Is flu season over yet?

Do you know what I don't like? That 2 days after visiting the pediatricians office (and feeling like we left not touching a thing) I didn't feel that great. Granted the kids both had a cold and the little one had it worse and I wasn't super careful around her. I also stressed out a lot that week and ate a lot of sugar both things did not help me fend it off.

This weekend I felt tired and my throat hurt. Not the kind of hurt with a flu the drainage kind of hurt. You know, the kind that goes away when you eat or drink something. This was a very weird cold. I never felt stuffy. I had  a few sneezes and my ears had fluid in them. My skin hurt a little and I felt a tiny bit achy but meds took that away. I mostly was tired. Today I still have a little fluid in my ears but at least I am able to blow my nose now (Even though I am not stuffy). It is probably the cold the girls had. It wasn't a bad cold but still - boo! Everyone is sick right now!

They say it's the worst flu season in over a decade and I'm sure it's because less people got their flu shot and there was no push for it like the past two years. I'm already freaking out about taking the girls to dance class on Thursday. I mean in December, my husband was sick then my oldest, then both girls had a cold, then I (sort of) did. Ugh! Everywhere I read all I hear about it sick or sick again. I just hope that noro-type virus is going away! We had flu shots so I feel somewhat protected there but the stomach bug - stay away - far far away!

Speaking of that ... interesting find this weekend. I bought my  husband some hand sanitizer/lotion. The ingredient in it. benzethonium chloride (which is also in the wet ones I use on the girls) claims to kill norovirus! I hope it's true. I knew alcohol sanitizers did not so if I can find some pump form of this b-chloride than that would be fantastic! For now I will carry around wipes and use them on myself as well! Legally that can't claim on the packaging to kill that virus but they do say "cleans better than hand sanitizers" - I hope what we read is true! Any extra protection is great :)

My dad is coming up here tomorrow. I hope he doesn't bring anything with him! He is a possibility on who got my oldest  sick the last time. Usually I can pinpoint it but there were too many visitors and possibilities this time. Fingers crossed he and his hands are healthy! Gosh I just want a break from people until this season is over. Isn't flu season over yet? Come on Spring!!
